Galvanized Steel (GI) Pipes

Galvanized Steel (GI) pipes are manufactured using the same processes as MS pipes along with the additional process of galvanizing. Galvanizing involves coating the surface of the pipes with a layer of zinc so as to prevent corrosion. When it comes the process followed for galvanizing, pipes with thinner walls are generally galvanized by electro-galvanizing of MS pipes and pipes with thicker walls are hot-dip galvanized.

Whilst GI pipes can also be used in the applications of MS pipes, they are commonly preferred over MS pipes in cases where the pipes may be susceptible for corrosion.
